There is something cathartic watching a wombat eat who has just been rescued from starvation. Jimba only came to our sanctuary last week after friends found him starving in a pile of hay. Once wombats get to this point where their hair is brown and falling out, hay is simply not enough nutrition to bring them back to full health. They need a combination of good food and somewhere calm and warm to recover. I'm so happy to say that this big baby boy is just going above and beyond my expectations f

Today was an incredible day for our rescue teams. Apart from the little girl we lost due to mange, we also treated 2 wombats for mange and did this epic rescue Called in from Jerrabomberra residents that a wombat was stuck in floodwaters on a tiny island, our amazing team went straight there. Still dressed to the nines for work but that was quickly sorted by residents giving our volunteer pants and gloves and off she went to rescue wombat now named Storm(ageddon)😊 I think he must have been pret

It’s strange the turns life takes. When Wombat Rescue was founded it was primarily about the work out there. In the field. The rescue side of things that includes mange treatment. And although I now get average 5 callouts per week I find myself looking at this little girl (and Raye) and think this is right. I was meant to be her carer. Something like destiny😊 she is so trusting.. and Raye is not just such a great diplomat (or DiploBat) for her kind but she’s such a gentle and calm girl. Jemma s
