I hate lamps… so I installed ultra-thin wafer lights in my bedroom and it’s honestly the best decision I’ve made for my eyes and my sanity. No more squinting under dim corner lights – just clean, bright overhead lighting everywhere. 🔆 The install was way easier than I expected – lights and supplies are all linked in my Amazon storefront if you’re ready to ditch your lamps too. Also… do you want to see the behind-the-scenes footage of me pretending to break that lamp? Because it got dramatic rea

How to Finish your Furniture Flip or Wood Project like a Pro! This is my formula every time and it’s never let me down! If you’re doing something like a dining room table or a kids dresser, I would do more coats of poly! Maybe 5-6! And make sure you get a self-leveling polyurethane like this one from @behrpaint. | DeLancey DIY

We had two options for sealing our fence: spray or roll/brush. Spraying is faster but (because of overspray) uses more product. Rolling or brushing stretches the stain much further but takes WAY longer. We had 200 linear feet so we decided to spray. We used 10 gallons of ReadySeal to get a first coat on the fence (we need to apply the second coat). So which would you choose? Save time or save money?? Want the links to *everything* you need to spray your fence? Just comment the word Amazon and my

DeLancey Carson | Real, Relatable Home on Instagram: "Gel stain right on top of finished orange oak from the 80s! Just degrease first and then apply with a chip brush. Keep brushing until it’s as thin as you want. You can do multiple coats if you want it even darker (this is just one coat). Another FAQ: do you need to seal it with polyurethane? Nope! As shown in the video, once dry, this gel stain is good to go! Want the links to everything I’ve used on this powder room makeover? Just comment th

Anyone else have stamped ceilings? (These aren’t popcorn ceilings - if you have those, my girl @cedar_hill_builder has removed them sooo many times [that’s her scraping it in my video] so hit her up for some advice!) Stamped (or “stippled”) ceilings are made from drywall mud and they’re trickier to deal with. I’ve left the texture in my vaulted living room and bedroom just because I don’t wanna sand the high parts. 😂 But I did give the living room a fresh coat of paint. In the kitchen and the k

My favorite shelf hack is to use solid wood stair treads as shelving! They are thicker than regular 1x12s (1” thick vs 3/4”) and the front edge is rounded. Add a few brackets (into wall studs for maximum strength!) and lay the treads on top. Don’t forget to secure them to the bracket with 3/4” screws underneath. These are solid pine but I’ve also used the solid oak stair treads before too! Would you use stair treads as shelving? | DeLancey DIY

Changing out a light is a great beginner-friendly #DIY. Electricity doesn’t have to be scary and the more you learn, the more confident you can be. Turning off the breaker before changing any light is key (yes, you theoretically can just turn off the switch but I’d rather be safe than sorry - especially if other people/kids are home). Then it’s just about connecting the wires from your work box to the wires in your new light. Black wire to black wire, white wire to white wire, and bare copper wi

Day 12 of my dining room glow-up, and this custom oak tabletop is finally coming together! We cut it into a circle with a router, tested it on the base (spoiler: it fits!), and then I spent hours sanding it smooth. Finished it off with edge banding to hide my less-than-perfect angles underneath and a coat of Red Chestnut stain to match the bookshelves. Tomorrow, we swap out the overhead light, and this makeover is almost done! #DIYProjects #DiningRoomMakeover #CustomFurniture | DeLancey DIY

I almost paid a pro to stain our fence until I realized how EASY it is to do it myself. This product is beginner-friendly, no runs or drips to stress about, and cleanup took less than 5 minutes. Comment the word SHOP and I’ll send you the link to everything I used or it’s linked in my Amazon shop if you’re planning a spring refresh! #FenceDIY #StainYourFence #SpringProjects #ReadySeal #AmazonFinds | DeLancey DIY
