WATCH: The effusive eruption at Mayon Volcano continues for the 28th consecutive day, producing incandescent lava flows, pyroclastic density currents (PDC) or “uson,” and rockfall. Mayon Volcano has entered its 21st day of effusive eruption. On the night of January 27, Phivolcs recorded crater glow, lava flows, pyroclastic density currents (“uson"), and rockfalls in the Mi-isi, Bonga, and Basud Gullies. Phivolcs noted that Mayon's current activity mirrors the 2023 eruption, which lasted about 6 months (April–September), though an explosive eruption remains possible. Alert Level 3 is in effect. WATCH: The largest pyroclastic density current (PDC) or uson in Mayon Volcano was generated on Monday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.
