The latest radar loop shows the development of two weather systems affecting Australia since Tuesday 11:00am AEST. A vigorous cold front is pushing through south-west Western Australia, bringing showers, gusty winds, and thunderstorms. The potential for locally heavy falls with thunderstorms continues for parts of the west coast this morning. Meanwhile in the east, rain is steadily building through parts of northern and eastern New South Wales and south-east Queensland. Generally, daily rainfall

🌧️The rain radar showers shower activity across parts of North and Far North Queensland today. Showers are heaviest about the North Tropical Coast, with 30-60 mm recorded between Cairns and Ingham in the 6 hours to 9:30am AEST Saturday. Innisfail Aerodrome recorded the most, reaching 84 mm in this period. A low pressure trough lying across the Cape York Peninsula is generating a cloud band through northern Queensland, with moist onshore flow enhancing wet weather along the North Tropical Coast.

9pm Wed - Here's a BoM nowcast radar animation out to the next 90 minutes for the showers and thunderstorms that are just starting to enter far inland parts of SEQ from the Downs at this time. But I'd keep in mind that nowcasting can be tricky to do, so keep an eye on the radar in case it changes. Nowcast animation via BoM. (Ken). | South Brisbane Storms

The new Toowoomba weather radar in Queensland is now live. The new radar adds coverage to current radar gaps to the west and south-west of Toowoomba. This includes the northern parts of the Moonie and Border rivers catchments, the upper Condamine River catchment and the mining and resources precinct around Chinchilla. This new Toowoomba radar will improve the Bureau's ability to make weather observations in the region and to warn the community about the potential impacts of severe weather as the

Below is a loop of the today's radar imagery overlayed on the visible satellite loop. It highlights showers sweeping across Tasmania, including across the current fire area. The showers are not expected to be heavy enough to extinguish the fires. Today, south-westerly winds are strengthening, with a risk of thunderstorms bringing gusty winds. Smoke is being dragged towards the northwest coast, including Burnie, while the south-westerly winds have cleared the smoke from Launceston. Cooler conditi

Karratha's new weather radar is now live with radar images available on the Bureau of Meteorology's website and the BOM Weather app. The new radar was built to replace a temporary radar in nearby Dampier, which was put in place to replace the previous Dampier radar after it was severely damaged by Cyclone Damien in February 2020. The new dual-polarised Doppler radar is an important tool for observing rainfall and wind conditions in real time across large areas, including approaching tropical cyc

Heavy rain is currently falling across northern Queensland with the monsoon trough and monsoon low. Further heavy rain is forecast in the coming days over a broad area, and this will lead to flooding. Where will all the flood water we're seeing in Queensland end up? The rainfall and flooding in north-west Qld will eventually make its way out to the Gulf of Carpentaria in the coming days and weeks. The flood water further inland will flow toward Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre in South Australia. Rain over
