Why such a Rush to Destroy this Railway? The Great Central Railway in Nottingham

Exactly 50 years ago on 3rd May 1969, the final passenger train ran on the former Great Central main line, and it may have seemed that the line might have been consigned to the history books. However, thanks to the efforts of committed and determined preservationists (many of whom are still involved today), the line was saved and has gone from strength to strength to become the railway we enjoy today. On 3rd May 2019 we are recreating the final diesel railcar services which ran on this day 50 ye
