How many flips? At the 1971 Daytona 500, Maynard Troyer suffered one of NASCAR’s most spectacular crashes. On lap 9, his engine blew coming off Turn 4, locking the rear wheels and sending his Ford Torino sliding off the banking. The car dug in and flipped end over end, rolling 15 times at over 150 mph before coming to rest on its wheels. Despite the violent crash and the car being destroyed, Troyer escaped with only minor injuries, making it one of the most memorable accidents in Daytona history
