Screenwriter Richard Curtis jokes about "Love Actually" overstaying its welcome and the new Christmas movie, "That Christmas," on Netflix Wednesday, he wrote as an alternative.

Writer Richard Curtis, who lives on the east coast, said he had adapted the script from a trio of children's books to create a "Love Actually for kids".

That Christmas boasts a star-studded cast with Brian Cox, Bill Nighy, Jodie Whittaker, Fiona Shaw, Rhys Darby and Lolly Adefope, who voice characters in entwined tales about love and loneliness, family and friends, Santa making a big mistake – and many turkeys.

Curtis told IndieWire he leaned on the "bit of wisdom" he learned from directing the iconic 2003 anthology film when assembling his ensemble animated debut.
