Nasa launches Lunar Trailblazer satellite on mission to find water on moon
The space exploration firm is scheduled to launch its six-legged Nova-C moon lander, Athena, on Wednesday as part of NASA's $2.6 billion Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) initiative. Athena is scheduled to launch aboard SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Edwards was part of the team that pitched the Lunar Trailblazer Mission to NASA in 2019. The goal was to find projects that could provide valuable insight with a more modest budget, with many expeditions costing upward of a billion dollars. This particular project was pitched at below $100 million, Edwards said.
If all goes according to plan, the Athena lander will touch down near the moon's south pole on or around March 6.
