If the Trump administration gets its way, the end of New York City congestion pricing will come in the third week of March.

The Federal Highway Administration said the Metropolitan Transportation Authority must stop collecting tolls by that date to allow for an "orderly cessation."

New York City must end its congestion pricing program by March 21, the Trump administration said in a letter made public on Wednesday. Last week, the Transportation Department said it was rescinding federal approval of New York City's congestion pricing program designed to reduce traffic and raise money to upgrade aging subway and bus systems.

The Department of Transportation gave New York City a deadline of March 21 to end its congestion pricing plan. In a letter to New York State Transportation Department(NYSDOT) officials, Federal Highway Administration Executive Director Gloria Shepherd followed up on Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy’s order that terminated the state’s congestion pricing plan.
