A cryptocurrency entrepreneur who bought a piece of conceptual art consisting of a simple banana, duct-taped to a wall, for $6.2 million last week ate the fruit in Hong Kong on Friday. Chinese-born Justin Sun peeled off the duct tape and enjoyed the banana in a press conference held in The Peninsula Hong Kong,

Upon hearing how much Sun bought the fruit for, the vendor, Shah Alam, was in disbelief. Sun then promised to buy 100,000 more bananas from Alam, or $25,000 worth of produce, in a series of posts on X/Twitter.

“It’s much better than other bananas. It’s really quite good,” Sun said in the viral video. Titled “Comedian”, the conceptual artwork by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan was purchased by Sun at four times its estimated value and the payment was made in crypto.
