The Amherst girls were the No. 1 seed coming in, and they left no doubt in a dominant showing in the 4x200-meter relay at the MIAA Division 3 Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center.

Heading down the stretch of the Division II track and field state championships on Thursday, the Algonquin boys team knew its chances of winning a state title was going to come down to one of its relay teams and one of Peabody’s.

For the third straight season, the Billerica girls easily claimed the Div. 3 indoor track and field title thanks to a strong group effort. The Indians took home eight top-four finishes and had five scorers in the two mile to make it a 50-27 advantage over Milton before eventually claiming it 75.
