The Minnesota Twins placed All-Star center fielder Byron Buxton on the 10-day injured list due to a rib injury.

Buxton's injury further muddies Minnesota's status as buyers or sellers ahead of Thursday's MLB trade deadline as they remain within striking distance of the postseason.

The Twins sent Buxton for magnetic resonance imaging on Sunday and manager Rocco Baldelli said that day the diagnosis was “a good outcome” and that Buxton would “hopefully be back very soon.” But now his day-to-day injury will have him out for at least 10 days, and the Twins will have to make do without their most-impactful player.
