Two weeks remain until opening day for the Houston Astros to define their outfield. Evaluation there continues for the face of their franchise, to an extent in Grapefruit League games that illustrates the weight of one impending decision.

Though Isaac Paredes is the top option at Cam Smith's familiar position, third base, Houston is executing an interesting move in an attempt to get the budding star on the Opening Day roster.

Owner Jim Crane commented that Smith “could make the ballclub this year at some point." That point could come sooner than expected.
