The trend for decades has been that once a U.S. Senate seat is won in Mississippi, the incumbent holds the post for a long time with minimal opposition.

Between primaries in August and the general election in November, there will be two contested races for Mississippi House of Representatives seats in this year’s special election. Much of Monroe
