NASA astronaut Sunni Williams, one-half Boeing Starliner crew who have been stuck on the International Space Station for months, took part in a spacewalk on Thursday to do some repairs to the orbiting laboratory.

Sunita Williams, a NASA astronaut of Indian origin, completed her first spacewalk in over seven months at the International Space Station. Williams, alongside Nick Hague, undertook repairs and will soon embark on another mission with Butch Wilmore.

At the time of writing, Williams and ISS crewmate, Nick Hague, are conducting NASA’s first spacewalk in over a year. The pair are scheduled to spend roughly 6.5 hours in the vacuum of space, where they will work on a number of long overdue external repairs and equipment assessments.

NASA astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore are waiting for their new ride back to Earth via SpaceX’s Crew Dragon this spring.

This event, known as US Spacewalk 91, is Williams' first in 12 years and her eighth overall, while for Hague, it's his fourth venture outside the ISS.

One of the two astronauts stranded at the International Space Station (ISS) has taken their first space walk since arriving at the station nearly seven months ago.

The call provided a New Year update on the crew, which includes astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore, who arrived aboard Boeing’s Starliner. The pair will return alongside SpaceX’s Crew-9 team following safety concerns with the Starliner spacecraft.

Now officially seven months on board the International Space Station, the two NASA astronauts who flew up on Boeing’s Starliner last June have a busy schedule in the new year while awaiting their flight home in the spring.

Sunita Williams, NASA astronaut and International Space Station (ISS) commander, conducted her first spacewalk in 2025 performing vital maintenance and upgrades on the ISS.  Williams, teamed up with fellow NASA astronaut Nick Hague to carry out much-needed outdoor repairs.
