The Eaton fire ignited about 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 7 in Eaton Canyon and burned 14,021 acres before firefighters contained the blaze a month later. Roughly 9,000 structures were damaged or destroyed, mostly in Altadena, and 17 people were killed.

A law firm has filed a motion saying Southern California Edison didn't communicate a decision to reenergize Eaton Canyon transmission lines, and evidence may have been altered.

An attorney who is suing Southern California Edison was in court, attempting to ensure that none of the equipment that possibly ignited the fire is destroyed.
