Martian meteorite that is the largest known piece of Mars found on Earth has sold for $5.3 million at Sotheby's, setting a new auction record for a meteorite.

The largest piece of Mars ever found on Earth was sold for just over $5 million at an auction of rare geological and archaeological objects in New York on Wednesday.

The meteorite is around 70% larger than the next biggest piece of Mars on Earth, and it represents around 7% of the entirety of Martian material on planet Earth.
