NFL.com’s Chad Reuter put together a five-round mock draft, with trades for this week. The 49ers were not on the trade block for any of the picks, staying at No. 27. With their pick, they took an offensive tackle, but not the one we have been talking about. Instead, they go with Arizona State offensive tackle Max Iheanachor:
NFL.com's Chad Reuter went through the first five rounds in his new draft and focused almost exclusively on the trenches and the secondary for San Francisco. He selected three trench players (two on the offensive line and one of the defensive line) and two defensive backs. The only other position Reuter drafted was receiver.
Even though the San Francisco 49ers were widely praised for having one of the best free-agent classes in the NFL, it was not a unanimous opinion based on at least one league executive's comments.
The 49ers head coach provided an update on the next steps with veteran wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.
Gerard Williams, a defensive back who played five seasons in the National Football League, has died. He was 73. Williams’ death was confirmed on social media via several college and high school classmates from Oklahoma.
