Atlanta Braves catcher Sean Murphy has a cracked rib and is expected to miss four to six weeks. Manager Brian Snitker told reporters on Monday before the Braves game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

According to MLB.com's Mark Bowman, Murphy has suffered a cracked left rib in Braves camp, an injury that's expected to hold him out for 4-6 weeks. That will keep him off the Opening Day roster at the very least, potentially longer if the discomfort lingers or he needs more time to get ramped back up after missing most of spring training.

MLB.com rates him as the Braves' On Saturday, Murphy told the team he felt soreness and a cracked rib was diagnosed. "You hate it for the player," Snitker told reporters, via the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Gabe Burns.
