Taylor’s approach differs from that of first-year PVAMU coach Tremaine Jackson. Because Jackson came to PVAMU from Division II Valdosta State, where playoffs begin in late November, he’s accustomed to a different routine for postseason preparation. He’s brought that same schedule to the Panthers.

JaCobian Morgan was injured last week against Grambling State and was in a walking boot on the sideline. His status was unknown heading into tonight's game. Behind him on the JSU depth chart are redshirt freshman Parker Stofa and true freshman Jared Lockhart, both of whom played in relief of Morgan last week.

Jackson State football can close in on a SWAC title game berth in the game against Bethune-Cookman on Nov. 15 in Jackson. The Tigers (7-2, 5-1 SWAC) can clinch the SWAC East with a win and an Alabama State loss at Mississippi Valley State, or by winning out.
