Protesters used fireworks against riot police in Tbilisi late on Saturday as they gathered across Georgia for a third straight night of demonstrations against the government’s decision to suspend negotiations to join the European Union.

Special forces have taken full control over the square in front of the parliament in Tbilisi and dispersed protesters, a TASS correspondent reported from the scene.

Georgia has suspended its bid to join the European Union, prompting thousands of protesters to take to the streets, where they clashed with police in the capital of Tbilisi.
