In view of the attack in Pahalgam, which killed 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali civilian, India has declared the Pakistani diplomats at persona non-grata.

Downgrading diplomatic ties with Pakistan in view of the Pahalgam terror attack, India on Wednesday took several measures, including the immediate closure of the integrated checkpost at Attari.

The treaty was signed by India and Pakistan in 1960. Last year in September, India sent formal notice to Pakistan to review and modify the Indus Waters Treaty. It was signed under the leadership of then Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and the second Pakistan President Field Marshal Mohammad Ayub Khan.
