A Tennessee parole board recommended a pardon for country music star Jelly Roll this week. Following a clemency hearing for the singer -- whose real name is Jason DeFord -- in Nashville on Tuesday, the Tennessee Board of Parole recommended that his criminal record, including a past conviction of robbery, be cleared.

The Tennessee Board of Parole is recommending a pardon for Grammy-nominated country star Jelly Roll on Tuesday, a decision that will be up to the state’s Republican Governor Bill Lee, according to the Associated Press.

The singer has been open about his arrests for drug crimes and other offenses, including a conviction for aggravated robbery at 16 where he was charged as an adult.
