Justice Samuel Alito has written a sharp dissent that castigates the seven-member majority for blocking the Trump administration from deporting any Venezuelans held in northern Texas under an 18th-century wartime law.

Samuel Alito's five-page dissent arrived nearly 24 hours after the Supreme Court temporarily barred the government from deporting a group of accused Venezuelan gang members.

The order regarded a group of accused Venezuelan gang members detained in the Bluebonnet Detention Center in northern Texas, and was in response to the American Civil Liberties Union’s emergency request that the court block any more removals without due process to El Salvador.
