At least seven tornadoes hit Alabama on Saturday, and that number will likely climb even higher later today. The National Weather Service plans to continue looking at storm damage and has several areas that will be visited by storm survey teams today (Monday).

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WTVA) — At least two people died in Alabama because of the weekend tornados and severe weather. Gov. Kay Ivey said the deaths happened in Plantersville, — about 40 miles northwest of Montgomery — and Winterboro — near Talladega.

An 83-year-old Talladega County man is the third person known to have died as severe weather struck Alabama Saturday night. Coroner Shaddix Murphy identified the victim as Harry Leon Faine. Faine was in his mobile home on Bob White Road, which is about a half mile from Winterboro High School, across Highway 21.

In addition to the damage at the high school, you can see trees bent like toothpicks and headstones toppled over in Winterboro but the church in the middle of it all was seemingly untouched.
